Hardcover. Octavos. Three volumes. Volume I: xx, 296 pages. Volume II: viii, 309 pages. Volume III: viii, 293 pages. Red cloth hardcovers ruled in blind with blind stamped designs on the covers. Gilt title and decorations on the spine. Some mild edge wear to the bottom cover edges, head and base of the spines, and on the corners. Light soil to the spines. Hinges in very good condition and interior contents are very clean. The contents of this set were edited by the brother of F. S. Larpent. Good. Item #36072

Francis Seymour Larpent (15 September 1776 – 21 May 1845) was a British lawyer and civil servant. From 1812 to 1814, he served as Judge-Advocate General of the British Army under Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington. He wrote an account of this period which provides information about the theory and practice of military justice in the early 19th century.
After the Napoleonic Wars, Larpent worked in Gibraltar and Vienna, before returning to the United Kingdom where he died in 1845.
