1882-89 Colorful Scrapbook and Memory Book with several color lithograph cards pasted down and several pages of hand written manuscript verse

Scrapbook. Small folio. Approx. 12" x 9.5". [50] leaves. No place of ownership found. Brown color embossed illustrated covers. Bottom edges of the covers and pages have been chewed, nibbled by a small animal with tiny loss of writing bottom of one leave. Another leave has a medium sized hole where a card was removed resulting in minor loss of one inscription. Interior contents are clean. All pages and the paste downs (except one page) are used for cards and hand written verse. Gift inscription written on the right front flyleaf reads - "Maria Getgood with best wishes from A. & A. Sallams? Christmas 1882." The first lengthy verse is signed by Maria in February, 1883. A few inscriptions signed Wm. H. Getgood. A couple of pages after Maria's signed verse it appears another family member (or different owner) was in possession of the scrapbook. An early signed verse in the album is addressed to "Dear Sarah" and signed "Dear Mother". Several of the inscriptions and verse are unsigned but many are addressed to Sarah. Scrapbook contains dozens of color pasted down lithographic holiday cards, birthday greetings, advertisements, religious cards, etc. A couple of the cards are loose. A visually appealing assemblage of color illustrations. Fair. Item #35884
