First Edition. Leather bound. Octavo. Volume I only. [2], 654 pages. Illustrated. Restored. Original leather boards with gilt patriotic seal on the front cover. Newer leather spine with title. Possibly former institutional book with date Aug 30 1950 stamped top left corner of page 654. No other markings or stamps in this book. Light to moderate scattered foxing and toning to the text and engravings. Gift inscription, written on a piece of cut out paper, is pasted down on a front blank end paper. Inscription reads - "This Book presented by Missis Frankey & Laura Hardwick to their teacher Ephraim M. White Jan 3rd 1866." Volume I only.
