He served as Mayor of Decatur, Georgia in 1915 and in the Georgia State Legislature before being elected as a Democrat to represent Georgia's 5th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from March 4, 1927 until his death in office in July 1929. His seat was subsequently filled in a special election by Congressman Robert C. Word Ramspeck. Very good. Item #33421
