First Edition. Diary. Approx. 7" x 4" black soft leather diary with metal button closure. Frontispiece illustration. Illustrated. All edges gilt. Gold front and rear end papers with green horse patterns. 352 pages of medical information with illustrations in the front and 152 unused lined, columned blank pages. Pages xiii-xliv include color and black and white plant illustrations and advertisements.
Gift inscription written on the verso of the frontispiece - "June 6th, 12 With compliments of Fred Cu???. "D A Barnett, U.S.S. Saratoga Shanghai, China" written on the verso of the right front flyleaf. Light scattered foxing to the title page and preliminary pages. Included with the Diary is an advertisement envelope for Burroughs Wellcome & Co. and a 33 page color illustrated Supplement to Wellcome's Medical Diary, 1913 titled - "Illustrations of Medicine Chests and Cases."
