Raised bands, gilt decorations, and leather title labels on the spine. Marbled end sheets. Top edge gilt. Orange illustrated paper cover with the title is bound in the back. Leather is rubbed on the corners and board edges. Light foxing to the first 3 leaves in front. Light foxing to the rear end sheets. Inscription written on the verso of the right front flyleaf reads "To Mr. Dresel from Eliot? Warburton in memory of much kindness experienced in Berlin 1920-21 Xmas 1921". "Sotheran & Co. Piccadilly London" tiny stamp verso of the right front flyleaf. Hinges are in good condition. Interior contents clean. Provenance from the Ellis Loring and Dresel family library. Most likely the inscription is meant for Ellis Loring Dresel (1865-1925) who was attaché to the U.S. Embassy in Berlin during World War I. Ellis Dresel's father was American composer Otto Dresel and his grandfather was Ellis Gray Loring a New England Abolitionist. Good. Item #29590
