First Edition. Wraps. Stitched printed wraps. Approx. 9" x 6". 18 pages. Front wrap detached. Institutional copy from the "Library of the Loyal Publication Society" stamped on the front and an oval stamp on the rear cover. Another institutional stamp from a library on the title page and a pencil "Dupl" written on the verso of the front wrap. The hostile reaction to Hamilton's anti-secession stance drove him out of Texas in 1862. Hamilton wrote his Anti-Slavery letter to President Lincoln on July 28, 1863 a few weeks after the Battle of Gettysburg. Fair. Item #29099
