Hinges are broken. Covers loose but attached. Cloth is lightly soiled and is split down the front joint. Front and rear end sheets torn. The first 8 preliminary pages, including the title and frontispiece are torn in the middle with no loss of contents. Foxing to the front preliminary pages. Pencil scribble on the rear flyleaf. Gift inscription "To Eugene Muse Mitchell II on his 7th birthday 6th April 1938 from Father and Mother." Poor. Item #28480

Provenance from the estate of the Mitchell family in Atlanta, Georgia.

Eugene Muse Mitchell (II), born 1931, was the son of Stephens Mitchell and Carrie Lou Reynolds Mitchell. He was a nephew of Margaret Mitchell. His brother was Joseph Reynolds Mitchell. Eugene Muse Mitchell died in Farmington Hills, Michigan in 2007 and was buried in the Atlanta Oakland Cemetery.
