First Edition. Hardcover. Tall quarto. 415 pages. Complete. Brownish marbled paper covered boards with leather corners and spine. Both covers are detached. The back cover is detached at page 415. Light to moderate scattered foxing, toning, and brown spotting to the issues. There are no preliminary pages in this bound grouping. All issues are present and consecutively numbered. Contents are mainly political covering elections across the States. Much information inside on the U.S. banking policy and the Department of Treasury. From wikipedia: "The Bank War was a political struggle that developed over the issue of rechartering the Second Bank of the United States (B.U.S.) during the presidency of Andrew Jackson (1829–1837). The affair resulted in the shutdown of the Bank and its replacement by state banks". Blair was the editor of the Congressional Globe in 1830. He started the Extra Globe in 1834. Blair supported Andrew Jackson and the Democratic party. He left the Democratic party in 1854 after objections to the Kansas-Nebraska act. Blair helped establish the Republican Party and served as an advisor to Lincoln during the Civil War. After the War he switched back to the Democrat party. Fair. Item #28166
