First Edition. Wraps. Stitched wraps. Approx. 9" x 6". Brown paper covers with black border and title on the front wrap. Light wear to the paper covers. Thin paper spine is chipped. Interior contents clean. Previous owner name written top of the inner title page. A couple of brief pencil notes at the end of the pamphlet. Pamphlet housed in a custom made box by Charles E. Lauriat of Boston. Marbled paper covered boards with gilt title on the thin blue leather spine. The front cover of the case is detached. The author was a surgeon's mate in the Navy during the Battle of Lake Erie in the War of 1812. Parson's was on the ship "Lawrence". He was the main medical mate aboard after two surgeons became ill. Parson describes his experiences in the battle and weighs in on the controversy surrounding actions not taken by Captain Elliott who was second in command to Perry. Scarce. Not in Howes. Very good.
