First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. xviii, 420 pages, [1]. Blueish marbled paper covered boards with leather corners. Leather spine with raised bands and title label. Ex-library copy from Bates College Library with label removed from spine, pasted down label front end sheet (with a withdrawn stamp), blind embossed library stamp on the title page and page 129, and card pocket (with card) on the rear paste down. Leather is scuffed. The blank front end sheet partially split. Interior contents very clean. This first volume (of 3) constituted the first series, covering the years 1817-1819. The latter two volumes were published in Philadelphia and London, 1845. According to Howes "together they represent the diplomatic maneuvers concerning the conflicting claims to Oregon and the adjustment of Northwestern boundary line. English editions of both series probably have priority."
