Berrien, a Senator from Georgia, opens his speech with "We are desirous of communing with you on a subject which is, in our judgment, intimately connected with the peace and harmony of the Union." This address covers the fugitive slave laws, South's participation in the Mexican War, Missouri compromise, annexation of Texas, and extending slave labor in the new U.S. Territories. No date provided but on line records indicate the speech was made in 1850. Very good. Item #26753
