Red leather title label on the spine. Leather is rubbed on the corners and raised bands of the spine and creased on the spine. Shelf wear and scuffs to the paper covered boards. The greenish paper is covering the original blueish marbled paper covered boards. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE COPY missing pages 1 and 2. The Table is supposed to follow the preface but also MAY be missing. There is a 4 page Table after page 680 that possibly was supposed to follow the preface? Illustrations have been removed. The right front flyleaf, title page, and preface pages are detached. Page 3 is the first page not loose. Contents mainly clean with light toning and occasional light foxing. Bookplate of "Carlton Hurd, Fryeburg, Maine" on the front paste down.
