Reprinted from the rare original of 1839. Copy includes two checks, clipped autograph, signature, news clipping, inscription, stamp, and bookplate from Alexander Thomas Leonard, Jr. United States Army and M.D. Cleveland: The Burrows Brothers Company, 1904.

Limited Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 317 pages. Illustrated with folding frontispiece map and illustrations. Navy blue cloth hardcover with gilt stamped title on the spine. Untrimmed foredge and bottom edge. Light scattered brown spots and light toning to the top edge, end papers, title page and foredge. Front hinge has a thin crack. Slight crack to the binding between pages 194-195. This copy has an illustrated bookplate of 'Alexander Thomas Leonard, Jr. United States Army, San Francisco' on the front paste down. On the right front flyleaf is a clipped signature of Leonard and his signature on the right front flyleaf. Two checks (1937-39) signed by Leonard are laid inside the front cover. On the half title page is an inscription - "San Francisco Examiner April 12 1922." Below the inscription is a news clipping concerning the prices of rare books in California. Huntington, Wagner, and Holmes were some of the bidders mentioned. The (presumed) first edition printed in 1839 went for 700 dollars in 1922. A green stamp top of the introduction page reads - "Ex-Libris Alexander Thomas Leonard Jr. Medical Reserve Corps United States Army San Francisco, California." A limited edition of 520 copies.
