Several articles about the Civil War less than 1 year after the commencement. Letters reprinted on the front page include a volunteer's letter at Hall's Hill, Camp Wilson, VA Jan. 27th, 1862 and a letter from Newport News Camp Butler, January 25th, 1862. Information on page 2 covers progress of the War including news of victory in Kentucky and Savannah Georgia being threatened. British opinion article also printed on page 2. Several more articles, advertisements, etc. Small edge tears to the paper and some holes at the center fold. The second paper is dated February 21, 1862 (Vol. XXVI. No. 12). The front page contains a letter from Newport News Camp Butler; Official accounts of the Victory at Roanoke Island; a letter from Shipp Island and more. Page 2 has a long article on the surrender of Fort Donelson. Several more articles and advertisements inside. Paper has small edge tears and creases. Good. Item #24809
