First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo's Two volumes. Vol. I. January 1884 - December 1885: 290 pages. Vol. II January 1885- December 1884: 326 pages. Paper covered boards with dried, cracked leather covered spines and corners. Covers are worn and rubbed. Front cover volume 1 is detached and the front end sheets, title page and first couple preliminary pages are loose. Rear cover volume one slightly loose with a cracked rear hinge. Volume II covers are attached but loose with cracked front and rear hinges. Spines are very dry, cracked, and chipped. Contents include instructions for knitting, crocheting, tapestries and artistic patterns. Issues also contain correspondence, articles, a few poems and advertisements. Illustrated with designs for Kate Greenway embroidery, full page illustrations, several in text patterns, lace, squares, stitches, decorations, etc. Binders error (possibly a printer's error but unlikely). The first two volumes containing 24 issues were bound without the original covers. The binder apparently switched the December 1884 and 1885 issues with 1885 bound in volume I and 1884 bound in volume II. The interior contents are lightly toned and clean. Fair condition only. Fair.
