William Dearing Harden was a son of Thomas Hutson Harden, of Liberty Co., GA, and Margaret E. Dearing. On 28 September 1870, William married Miss Eliza Haywood Dearing, daughter of Major Alfred L. Dearing and Marcella Jones, of Alabama. William and Eliza had two children, Margaret E. Harden (Mrs. George P. Elliott, of Beaufort, SC); and Alfred D. Harden.
