First Edition. Hardcover. 12mo. [1], viii, 101 pages, [2]. Green cloth hardcover with gilt stamped floral wreath and title on front cover. Blind stamped wreath and title on the back cover. All edges gilt. Front cover lightly soiled. Light edge wear to the cloth corners and head and base of the spine. An old pencil inscription on front paste down is crossed out in pencil. Previous owner inscription on the title page, "Maria Elliott White Orleans Square Savannah". On the preface page is an old faded small, chipped price label pasted down next to the word "Savannah" and over the date "January 1866". Light brown spots to a few pages. Two old pencil notes written in the margins above titled poems on different pages. The first note located on page 49 above the poem "The Village Church" reads - "My Brother Robert Habersham." The second note is written above the poem "Lines" on page 57 reads - "My Husband." The preface states "The following pieces have been written by some of the ladies and gentlemen of Savannah, and are published for the benefit of the Episcopal Orphans' Home in that city".
