Second Edition. Leather bound. Octavos. 3 volumes. Volume I: [1], iv, 460 pages, 42 pages notes, viii index, [2]. Volume II: [2], 448 pages, 32 pages notes, v index, [1]. Brown sheepskin leather bindings for volumes I and II. Black leather title labels on the spines. Marbled end sheets and edges. Light rubs to the leather on the board edges and joints. Light scuffing and rubs to the spines. Previous owner name of John Williams on the right front end sheets of volumes I and II. Volume III: ATLAS with 10 maps and engraved title page. Paper covered boards with title on a yellow paper label pasted down on the front cover. Brown cloth spine. Cloth is split on the hinges and is partially frayed. Small chip to the cloth spine. Some scuffs and light damp stains to the paper covered boards. The front and rear end sheets and engraved title page are toned and foxed. Light toning to maps. Previous owner's armorial bookplate (William Ross Teel) on the front paste down. Atlas was issued with the publication of the second edition of Marshall's Life of Washington (2 volumes) in 1832.
