He was the proprietor and editor of the New York World from 1860-1876. During the New York City riots of 1863, Marble's business was not attacked unlike the Republican newspapers. In 1864 he was arrested after his paper published forged communications by Lincoln (wikipedia). In this publication Marble claims that "Republican conspiracy of fraud and force" stole the election and that Tilden would have won if Congress properly counted the electoral votes. Very good.
