Illustrated with photographs, a map of the railroad route, and illustrated advertisements. Dark brown pebble cloth hardcover with gilt illustrated title and "Denver & Rio Grande R R Scenic Line of the World" seal on the front board. Restored. New brown cloth backstrip. Hinges repaired. Front and rear end sheets replaced with newer light brown end papers. Cloth covers repaired. The first 6 pages were chipped in the lower corners (no missing content) and have been patched. Rest of the contents in very good condition. 8 of the 12 plates were photographed by William Henry Jackson. Views include Pike's Peak, Garden of the Gods, Royal Gorge, Marshall Pass, etc. Presentation copy: Inscribed "To The Hon. J. Russell Jones with kind regards of James Gorant (sp?), Secretary of the Guarantee Co. of N. America Chicago 2 of 9/88." J. Russell Jones was President of the West Side Rail Way company in Chicago.
