William Wyld, 1803-1889 Britain, France: 1800's.

Letter. Manucript letters signed by English painter, William Wyld. 5 pages. Written on fine paper with embossed stamps in the upper corners including a sheet of paper brom Bath. Undated letters circa mid 1800's. Each letter has a later pencil inscription at the top providing the name, occupation, and birth and death of Wyld. A total of 4 signatures by Wyld. The letter in English reads, "Sir Allow me to thank you for your kindness in recommending my works to the attention of the Societe des Ami's des Arts: - I am only sorry that none of those "alliedes"sp.? to in you note are at my disposal. - The only picture I have unsold at the Salon is No 1821 "Terrapee du Convent des Capuains a Sorrento" exhibited in the Salon Carre." Believe me Sir Yours Very Truly William Wyld - Rue Blanch Friday." The letters written in French from Paris are not translated but appear to concern painting, exhibitions, and work. Wyld died in Paris, France at his home in 1889. Very good. Item #15772
