Fourth Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. [1], viii, 9-352 pages. Volume III only of a 4 volume set. Tables I, II, III, IV, VI, and VII located in back. Table V not present (does not appear it was bound in this volume. No evidence of removal). Blue paper covered boards and spine. Paper label on the spine mostly perished. Untrimmed text edges. Light toning and scattered foxing to the contents. Paper on the spine is chipped and worn off mainly at the bottom section. Volume III covers the history of production of several agricultural products including sugar cane, rum, cotton, indigo, coffee, Cacao (chocolate), ginger, aloes, arnatto, "piemento", etc. The economy of the West Indies relied heavily upon Slave labor. The value of Slaves, "450,000 negroes" was estimated at 50 pounds per head equaling 22,500,000 pounds. Good. Item #15744
