First Edition. Program. Approx. 8" x 5" printed program. 4 pages (including the covers). Program lists names of Marthasville residents from 1842-1845 in one column; list of attending Honor Guest names July 11, 1942 in the second column; and the relationship status of the honored guests to the original residents of Marthasville in the third column. Three additional handwritten names were added to "Honor Guests." This event was hosted by Franklin Garrett. Mayor William Berry Hartsfield gave the greeting. Presentations at the event included Judge John D. Humphries "Settlement of Marthasville"; Prof. Glenn W. Rainey "People of Marthasville"; Dr. Major F. Fowler "Health of Marthasville"; and Dr. Goodrich C. White "Education in Marthasville". Program also has the menu served at the Biltmore Hotel printed on page 3. A ticket to attend the event is included with the program. Marthasville, incorporated in 1843, was named for Georgia Governor Wilson Lumpkin's daughter Martha. It was renamed to Atlanta in 1845. Light blue stain under the title. Very light foxing to the right edges of the front cover. Very good. Item #15038
