First Edition. Full calf. Octavo. viii, 9-272 pages. Marbled brown calf leather binding with red leather title label on the spine. Right front flyleaf has been removed. Moderate toning and scattered foxing to the contents. Light rubs to the leather boards. Gift inscription written on the front paste down reads, "Ann Simple Book 1850 presented by John Marshall." Below the inscription is written "Martha A. Simple's Book." Williams was a Quaker minister born in 1763. His journal records travels to North and South Carolina, Georgia, Ohio, Indiana, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Nantucket, Delaware, and Long Island.
