Howes C 883 "Descrition of American life of great influence in attracting European immigration in the post revolutionary period. As literature unexcelled by any American work of the 18th century";

Sabin 17496;

Clark I 218 "His [Crevecouer] famous farmer's Letters cannot be exactly dated, and some were written after the events described. They are essentially essays of a philosophical character and as such reflect well the spirit of the eighteenth century. But they deal also with actual conditions and events witnessed by Crevecoeur. Thus their value as a historical source is of a peculiar kind, and the mixture of the actual and the ideal in the author's mind must be appreciated by the historian." Good +. Item #13000
