Frontispiece steel engraved portrait of General Xavier Mina and folding map in volume 1. Marbled paper covered boards. Brown leather spine and corners. Black leather title labels, gilt decorations and raised bands on the spines. Blueish marbled end papers. Ex-institutional copy with St. Bernard's Seminary Library book plate on the front paste downs. No other institutional labels or any markings. Leather is lightly rubbed on the edges of the spines and corners. Frontispiece engraving and title page are foxed. First published in Philadelphia in 1820 without a map. The English edition has an approx. (15" x 16") square map. An approx. 1" closed split on of the folds left margin. No loss of content. The map is very clean.
