First Edition. Hardcover. 8vo. 2 vols. lxxx, 9-533pp; vi, 7-576pp. Large folding frontispiece map volume 1. Original publishers green cloth hardcovers with paper title labels on spines. Paper title labels are both worn with major loss to the lettering. Cloth is edge worn head and base of spines and corners. Light to moderate scattered foxing and toning to contents. A small worm hole penetrates pages 561-576 in volume 2. Folding map has an approx. 2" closed tear on the edge with no loss of content. The map has several creases from the irregular folds. These volumes were both published in 1836 but are not the same exact size. In volume 2 printed on the verso of the title page is "R. Ludwig, Printer." Previous owner, L. H. Charbonnier, purple name stamp is located on the front paste down both volumes. Both volumes are inscribed to "L H Charbonnier from his friend E. M. Carroll Nov 19th 1865"
