First Edition. Wraps. 8vo. Wraps. 16 pages. Wraps bound by thin paper strip front, back and spine. Moderate toning and scattered foxing to contents. Inscription written at top of the title page reads, "Nathan L. Foster from his father May, 1811." Robert Goodloe Harper (1765-1825) was a Federalist who opposed the policies of Thomas Jefferson. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from South Carolina in the years 1795-1801. He later moved to Baltimore and served in the U.S. Senate from Maryland 1815-1816. He resigned in the Senate to run for Vice President but was defeated in 1816. He was an American Revolution soldier and a Major General during the War of 1812. Good. Item #12036
