Stated First Edition. Wraps. 8vo. [1], 60 pages. Title on outer wrap. Original printed, stitched wraps. Light wear and soil to front wrap. Spine is chipped. On the verso of the title page is the statement - "This pamphlet is reprinted at the Request of the "London Society for Mitigating and gradually Abolishing the state of Slavery throughout the British dominions," and at their suggestion, the extracts from Foreign Authors have been translated." Hodgson was the author of "Remarks During A Journey Through North America in the Years 1819, 1820, and 1821, in A Series of Letters" published in 1823. The first edition of this letter was also published in 1823. Britain abolished slavery in 1833.
