First Edition. Hardcover. Folio (approx. 22" x 19"). Brown cloth hardcover with gilt title and illustration on the front cover. Ex-library copy with library label on the front past down. Light edge wear to the cloth head and base of the spine. Title-page is Sheet I; Sheet II is the list of Contents; and Sheet III is the Legend. Sheets IV-XXVII are color illustrated maps and views, etc. Binding is in very good condition. All sheets are clean, bright and in very good condition. Arnold Hague was one of the five official geologists for the United States Geological Survey. In 1883 Hague and his team mapped the geology of over 3,000 square miles in the Yellowstone National Park and adjacent areas. Hague focused on the nature and origin of the park's geysers and hot springs, spending nine years expanding work started in the 1870's. Very good. Item #17235
